Direct contact with your elected officials
in the U.S. Congress is an excellent way to help protect our
health rights.
To call your Senator or U.S. Representatives,
use the tips below:
To call your U.S. Senators:
- Go to the website for the U.S. Senate (http://www.senate.gov).
- Locate your Senators. Click on their names to access their
personal web page on the www.senate.gov
website.You’ll find their phone number on that page.
Each State has two Senators, please contact
both. If you need assistance locating your Senator, click
here)
To call your U.S. Representative:
- Get your nine-digit zip code. To determine your nine-digit
zip code (this includes the five digit Zip code that you
probably know for your city or town, plus the four digit
extension for your neighborhood, go to the U.S. Post Office’s
website at http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/welcome.jsp,
enter your address and it will give you the nine digit Zip
code.) Write down the Zip code.
- Enter your nine-digit Zip code at the U.S. House of Representative
website (www.house.gov)
- Click on the name of the Representative that comes up
with your neighborhood’s Zip code
- You’ll find their phone and fax number on that
page.
(Note, while each State has two Senators, and
many States have more than two Representatives, your nine-digit
Zip code area only has one U.S. Representative.)
If you call your Senator or Representative, ask for them
by name and the switchboard operator will patch you through
to his/her office. When you reach your Senator's office, ask
to leave a message for the Senator.
Use the talking points below or deliver a personal message.
Be sure to insist on leaving your name and address, and ask
for a letter response. As a constituent, you deserve to know
how your Senator will act on your request.
HERE'S WHAT YOU CAN SAY:
"I'm calling to ask [Senator or Representative name]
to vote against any legislation that will limit my right to
use safe, affordable, health-promoting dietary supplements.
“I am firmly AGAINST the passage of S. 729/H.R.
1507, H.R. 3156 and H.R. 2485 and I am FOR the passage of
HR 2352.”
"I believe more needs to be done to ensure that
the Food and Drug Administration enforces the current law.
"The Government should not limit the freedom of
choice of American consumers when it comes to their health.
Safe, effective and affordable dietary supplements should
not be unfairly singled out. Thank you."
