| What is DSHEA and why should I care?
The Dietary Supplement Health and Education
Act of 1994 (DSHEA) was initiated and passed because of massive
public outcry against the encroachment of your essential right
to make your own health decisions in regards to natural health
products.
DSHEA establishes the fact that dietary supplements are a
food product. As a food product, dietary supplements have
a different set of regulations that benefit consumers, retailers
and manufactures. The limitation is that as a food product,
retailers of natural health products cannot make health claims
about their products.
Because natural products are classified as food products,
they are under the regulatory purview of the FDA.
DSHEA is the bedrock of our health freedoms. We MUST
all work together to defend DSHEA.
One of the best ways for you to defend DSHEA is to
send letters to Congress.
